Manchester Centre 96 Portland Street

The room at the back of the hotel was very quiet, and I slept really well in the comfortable bed. It was clean and had tea and coffee facilities and an excellent shower. I was here for one night on a business trip and had stayed before. Staff were efficient and helpful during check-in. Another positive visit, and I'll be back for work or leisure.

Philip at breakfast was amazing. He went out of his way for our family of six and made us feel so welcome, a real asset to the hotel. Everyone was kind, funny and unbelievably helpful, and the hotel was spotless. From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect over our two nights. The location is ideal, and we'll certainly be back!

The staff were lovely and the service was great, but the heat made these four nights hell. I couldn't sleep or breathe, and had to wake up and shower during the night to cool down. Going outside in 23C felt like a break. If you're sensitive to warmth, I wouldn't recommend this place. It's unfit for purpose and needs renovation or to be closed. I'll never stay here again. I stayed in July 2024 and only just remembered to leave this review. The check-in area was air-conditioned, but once we stepped out of the lift it felt like 30C or more, no exaggeration. It was warm outside, but inside was unbearable and we were sweating before we even reached the room. There was a small desk fan and a window that only opened an inch. After ten minutes we went to reception to ask for an upgrade, whatever it cost, but were told the building had no air conditioning. They gave us another small desk fan.

My daughter was visiting a friend in Manchester when, in the early hours, she got separated from her and didn't know where she was or how to get back to her accommodation. She ended up at the Premier Inn Portland Street, where Ryan at reception assured us they'd keep her safe until we could travel from Cardiff to collect her. The hotel was full because the Brit Awards were being held in the City, but Ryan and the staff on duty still looked after her. We can't thank them enough. It's frightening to think what might have happened if she'd been left wandering the streets. Thank you for the kindness and help.
