Dukeries Lodge Hotel

We booked a table for two after friends recommended it. I've lived locally for years and had never been in, though I knew it had changed hands several times. It was late Sunday afternoon and fairly busy, even though the dinner rush was long past. The interior is done up nicely. We arrived early, had a drink, and were seated at 4. We were told the food would be delayed, then sat waiting to place our order. Two other tables, one of four and one of six, arrived and were served while we continued to be ignored. When the waitress finally came over, she listed about six main courses that weren't available. After already waiting 30 minutes just to order, we politely declined and went somewhere else. It could have been a one-off, but as a first impression it was very disappointing. Sorry.

The inside was much more beautiful than I expected on our first visit today. My husband and I were impressed by the staff, the range and quality of the food, and how nicely it was presented. We'll definitely be back. We're already thinking about booking for our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday.

We'd been hearing good things about The Dukeries Lodge and finally went today to see for ourselves. The Tuesday special deal was a Mixed grill, which I chose, while my partner had the Blackened Salmon. Both were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend this place, and we may stay a night in one of the lovely rooms sometime.

We had a brilliant Sunday afternoon at The Dukeries Lodge for my 60th birthday on the 8th Feb. There were 32 of us, and the Thoresby Room was just right. The food and service were excellent. Thank you so much!
