Best Western Plus Centurion Hotel

We picked rooms facing the golf course because we wanted somewhere quiet, and they definitely were. The beds were on the firm side, which suited us, and there was ample parking. Service was very good, and the rooms were clean and quiet. Vicki and Jenny at reception were especially thoughtful, kind, and helpful. It was easy to get to Glastonbury, Frome, and Bath. We’d definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

We live just around the corner and have eaten at the restaurant and had coffee there several times, but we won’t be back. I left very unhappy with the service after a meal for six. There was hardly any veg for six adults: two tiny pots of creamed leeks, roughly a teaspoon each, and one small dish of vegetables. When I asked for more, I was told I’d have to pay, and only a small amount arrived, without any leeks. Two of us also had to ask for our Yorkshire puddings, which came near the end of the meal. They’d run out of oat milk for lattes, though they found enough for one cup, so three of us who are dairy intolerant missed out on coffee. The Restaurant Supervisor was abrupt and a little rude, and the staff seemed sullen and unfriendly. I felt sorry for the waiter and waitress because they looked unhappy at work. When I paid, there was no apology for the mistakes or offer to take anything off the bill. The Restaurant Supervisor was unfriendly again, got irritated at my slow pace, and didn’t even say thank you or goodbye.

Room 101 was just right for what I needed, and the bathroom was immaculate. The hotel is great value for money. Everyone I dealt with, at reception and in the restaurant, was attentive and polite. The food was good, and they were willing to accommodate special requirements. I’d definitely stay here again 👍

The bar's decor felt rundown, with a 50's style. The only ale on tap was very musty, so I didn't even try the small sample. The bottled Newcastle Brown Ale was expensive, but went down very well. I hadn't been to the hotel since it changed hands. I was there for a full medical examination from Bluecrest Medical, though other venues in Bath have been more agreeable for that. The place has certainly changed since it was the Criterion.
