We’ve stayed here over the festive period for three years running, which says plenty. The upgraded twin room was superb, with fresh paint and decor this year. The beds were spot on, and the shower stayed pleasantly hot. Dog-friendly rooms are a nice bonus. There’s free parking nearby at Market Square, and the location is excellent. Staff are attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Saturday had a great live band, and there was an open mic on Sunday for anyone who wanted to join in. Thanks to all the staff for working hard over the festive period. Highly recommended.

The rooms were decent and good value, but the drinks were very dear. I paid £16 for a medium Pino with a splash of lemonade and a Biere Moretti, so I did wonder if I’d been ripped off. We stayed Saturday before Sunday’s racing at Silverstone, hoping to eat there because the menu looked good and had good reviews. A private function meant there was no food for guests, though luckily a very good Indian was just across the road, with a Thai next door that looked okay. We thought we might get breakfast, but when we left at 9:30, the only person in the pub was a cleaner hoovering. We hadn’t been told whether there was a time we had to return by to avoid being locked out, or how to leave in the morning.

Andy sorted me out with a lovely room in the new extension, beautifully finished and fitted, with a great shower. It’s right behind the pub, though, so be aware that Saturday live music can be heard from any of the rooms. I found undercover motorcycle parking at the nearby health centre, about 20 metres away, so the bike stayed dry. The Old George used to be one of my local watering holes, and I came back for a weekend recently. I’d much rather stay in historic Stony Stratford than central Milton Keynes. The river ooze and surrounding parks make it a brilliant place to explore the area. Very good value, and I’d recommend it and stay again when I’m back in Milton Keynes.

I booked for two nights in Stony Stratford and ended up extending my stay with no hassle at all. This hotel carries some of the town’s history, and the people there are so welcoming. The pub’s a lovely experience too. The locals are friendly, open to a good conversation, and make you feel welcome. The food was delicious, hearty and filling. A charming place with great people, definitely worth a visit if you’re in town! ☺️

The live music with Don John Maxwell was really good, and the place has a nice location with a traditional feel and good atmosphere. The man behind the bar was neither friendly nor rude, just so-so. I didn’t try the food, so can’t comment on it. A very good experience.
