Premier Inn Monmouth

The food was the best part of my stay, with some really delicious choices on the menu. The staff were lovely too, and the person who checked me in was polite and welcoming. I work as a mobile Radiographer, so I've stayed at quite a few Premier Inns, and this is one of the more pleasant ones. Looking forward to coming back next week!

Monmouth was easy to reach, about a 5 minute walk to the start of town, and breakfast had some good parts: the made to order eggs were perfect. The hot buffet was cool at best, though. Our first room had a dreadful drain smell, so we had to move. Then the room we ended up in was uncomfortable, far too hot even in October. The temperature was preset by the hotel, asking them to lower it made no difference, and we couldn't open the window. We asked for an extra pillow at breakfast, but it still hadn't arrived by 6pm, so we had to ask again. The bed itself was comfortable, but after our 2 night stay, I'm not sure we'd come back because of the room temperature.

The room was clean, tidy, and nicely presented, with no issues in the standard room. The location worked fine for what we needed. Dinner was less satisfying. The staff were polite, but with 8 of us we felt rushed to order. Prices seemed high for what we got, and the gluten free and vegetarian choices were very limited. That's why I'd give the service 3 stars.

We could easily walk into town from here, and there was a large car park. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely, tasty and well cooked. A very good hotel.
