I sent this to the hotel, but they didn’t reply within their own stated 48 hours. I know this was a low-cost room, but I wanted to share what it was like. The room felt very tired. It looked as if someone had vacuumed, but there was still stuff on the floor. There was wear and damage all over: damage by the headboard, no toilet roll holder, a bathroom door damaged where someone seemed to have pushed it hard over the door stop, mold at the bottom of the shower, and a worn, ripped and damaged chair. The old lighting had parts missing. The toilet was raised as if for an accessible room, which made it difficult to use, and the bathroom smelled strongly of cleaning products. The curtains let in far too much light, and maybe a blind would help. The bed seemed past its best, and the pillows were really lumpy. There was also a loose doorstop with a screw hook on the floor. Glad I didn’t step on it. I didn’t see a staff member until late evening, when I passed reception. I get that refurbishing rooms costs money and that woodchip wallpaper is awful to remove, but I felt really unwelcome, like nobody could be bothered. Fixing these little things would make a huge difference. The hotel could be great given its location, but as a guest I felt like an inconvenience. I can provide photos of everything mentioned, though I have a feeling you already know about these problems.

I was there for a meeting, so I can’t speak to the rooms. The set-menu meal was very good quality and came in generous portions, and the staff were polite and friendly. The wine choices were limited and mid-quality, but for what we paid I thought it was a very good deal. It’s in an excellent spot for visiting Nairn, within walking distance of both the beach and town centre.

We stayed from 24th to 28th October. The rooms were clean and nicely presented, the food was a high standard and reasonably priced, and the staff were nice and polite.

The staff were impolite, especially the woman, who became verbally aggressive on the phone for no reason. It took her more than 10 minutes to answer, and then she hung up. The “boss” Moha.mmed seems to think it’s fine to cancel a booking at 8:30pm, just an hour before arrival, even though the room had already been paid for. Of course, the customer must be the problem, even after he’s taken your money. 😃 The only reason I wanted to stay was the low price. I’d stayed before. The rooms are very dated, and the walls seem like a single layer of cardboard. You can’t sleep if the neighbour snores, and you can hear every word in the next room. It’s a 20-minute walk from the train station, which isn’t very practical without a car. The receptionist seems so keen to serve customers that it’s better to have nothing to do with her. I won’t make that mistake again.
