Malmaison Newcastle

We had an amazing Sunday lunch here yesterday as a group of four. Tessie, a very pleasant Irish lady, went above and beyond with everyone in the restaurant. She wears the hotel brand exceptionally well and is a fantastic advert for it.

It’s a nice-looking hotel and the staff are great. The location is handy for getting everywhere without being too central. Breakfast was nice too, although a couple of staff members bickering in front of guests wasn’t great. The noise was a massive letdown for me. First, I had to change rooms because of traffic from the bypass at the rear. I was told it’s a grade 2 listed building, so they can’t install better windows. There was also a dog left in a nearby room. They kindly moved me to the front, but then car noise was replaced by shouting from people going to the bars below. I was staying for work and needed a good night’s sleep, which I sadly didn’t get. I couldn’t stay here again.

We had a very comfortable stay, and the breakfast was great. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was definitely on the more premium side. Fantastic hotel, with a great view of the Millennium Bridge.
