Grand Hotel Gosforth Park

The room service was quick, everything came hot and fresh, and the food was delicious. The staff were lovely, polite and professional, and seemed proud of their work. From check-in to check-out, the stay felt easy and welcoming. Our suite at The Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle was spacious, spotless and full of character. The elegant furniture, soft lighting and comfortable bed were great, and the lounge with its fireplace and luxurious sofas was a lovely place to unwind. I noticed the current 7.5 rating on Booking.com, but our stay felt like a 5-star experience. Beautiful suite, great food and service. We’ll definitely be back.

The food was fabulous, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The gym had everything needed for a good workout, and the pool looked clean and lovely, with a few loungers beside it. We spent a couple of nights here. The rooms could use an update, as other reviewers have said, but ours was immaculately clean. It was a really good-value stay.

The cleaning staff were great, and the people who welcomed us at check-in were friendly too. The Christmas break was also cheaper than I expected, and being close to family worked well for us. I’d been willing to pay extra for the leisure facilities, but the information hadn’t made that charge clear to me. When I tried to get in to pay, the door wouldn’t open, perhaps it was locked, and nobody came to help from inside. We also had two nights of disturbed sleep. One night there was loud music from a party in the function room, and on New Year’s Eve children were running and playing in the corridors.

The leisure club is the real standout here, with a sauna, gym, pool and steam room. The kids love it, and there’s a trim trail around the grounds too, something most city centre hotels could only dream of. I was a member with my parents way back when it was a Swallow hotel. The location is brilliant, and the staff are top notch, always going out of their way to help. And the price is hard to beat. Anyone giving less than five stars must be a professional complainer or just looking for a whinge. The value is a fact.
