Canal Court Hotel

We had such a good Saturday night at the Canal Court Hotel. Gerard and his team were friendly, hardworking, and gave us great service. Our meal in the bar was gorgeous, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms felt new with a great shower. The Christmas decorations made the atmosphere even better. We’ll definitely be back.

There were plenty of quiet corners around the hotel to sit and unwind, and the Granary Bar had bar food if you wanted something casual. For a fancier night, there’s a nice restaurant upstairs on the first floor. Our room was spacious, on the top floor after an upgrade, with lovely canal views. We were getting a lift down early and asked about leaving our luggage somewhere safe, but when we arrived they’d already got the room ready nearly two hours ahead of time. That was amazing. Breakfast was lovely, and there’s a carvery every day if that’s your thing. The staff were very helpful. Think this might be my new favourite place for a few days away.

We stopped in for the carvery just as it opened while we were in Newry for an appointment at kingsbridge clinic. The turkey dinner was beautiful, and the staff served it quickly and were so friendly. I told a woman at reception what a lovely place it was. We were fed and out within the hour, without feeling hurried, and we’ll certainly be back. Compliments to the chef and team.

Dinner was great, especially the fab steak, and we had a really enjoyable break with friends. The staff were fantastic at every turn. It’d be good to see more fun non-alcoholic drinks for people who are sober or pregnant.
