Once you get inside, it’s a special place, though the approach to the hotel felt a little questionable. The room was huge, full of original features and character, and so clean I couldn’t spot a speck of dust or a hair. The staff were all polite, pleasant, and genuinely welcoming. There’s a well stocked bar, a decent wine list, and food and drinks were reasonably priced. The restaurant was beautifully set, with spotless tableware, and the food was decent for the price. I stayed on 31st January and hadn’t expected much given the reasonable rate, so the value really blew me away.

Brenton and Declan gave us outstanding service for my 40th birthday party at the lodge. The venue looked beautiful and was clean and tidy. The team worked so hard, and I can’t thank them enough. I’d highly recommend it and would definitely book again.

The three course meal was delicious and nicely presented. The room was clean, tidy, and welcoming, with tea, coffee, biscuits, and the other facilities, while the bathroom had fresh towels, shampoo, and shower gel and was exceptionally clean too. The venue itself was spotless, with lovely table settings. Staff handled the service professionally, and the Manager was polite, professional, and easy to reach. I was really impressed with the venue, staff, service, and room at the Birthday/Retired Party.

We chose the hotel because we were driving, and the free parking made it easy to get to our business. The building has loads of character and striking architecture, and it’s nice to see older places like this being looked after. Our room was large and well equipped, and the staff were very friendly. The dining room felt a bit bare, but the set dinner menu was good quality. We appreciated the sincere effort to make guests feel welcome and serve a good meal.

It was cold outside, and the inside wasn’t much warmer. Lunch on Sunday was adequate, but the place needs a lot of care. There were even outdoor shrubs growing inside the windows. Maybe it’s nicer in summer.
