Best Western Nottingham Derby

Breakfast was a real bright spot: a good selection, food served piping hot, freshly cooked eggs, and a very pleasant server. The hotel was ideally located for the places we visited during our two-night stay. Our family room was a decent size, but the layout was poor and it felt dated. It was also outrageously hot, making it uncomfortable to sleep or even sit in the room in the evening. Having the sink in the sleeping area didn't offer much privacy, and the shower could've been cleaned better.

Getting to Alton Towers resort was very easy, and the food was great quality. They catered for our dietary requirements at both breakfast and dinner, and the welcoming staff were happy to accommodate specific needs. There was no air conditioning, and although they provided fans, the room stayed very warm. The towels were too small to use after showering.

The beds were comfortable, and our room was clean and spacious. The staff were lovely and helped when I asked for extra amenities. Breakfast at the grill outside the Best Western was great, with lots to choose from. The only snag was that there were no sockets by the beds, just one at the desk, which isn't convenient when phones and tablets need charging for alarms. I pulled one bed away from the wall in my twin single room and found two sockets there, so crisis averted.

We wanted somewhere close by for our anniversary, and this was a lovely, relaxed choice. The room was quiet despite the location, though earplugs are available at reception if you’re a light sleeper. We booked an executive room at a good rate, and having both a sofa and chair made it feel more comfortable. It was spacious, the bed was great, and the shower’s built-in seat was a useful accessible feature. We’d book again.
