I found this welcoming pub right in the middle of Uppingham and stopped for lunch. The freshly made pizza was delicious and great value at £10, and the menu has plenty of reasonably priced food for a casual meal or drink. There's a good choice of ales, beers, and wines too. My ale was well kept and served, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly.

I sat in the little garden behind the pub with a pint of Athena. It's a light beer with a bit of hop flavour. I popped in for a quick drink on Saturday morning; there weren't many people inside, but everyone was friendly. They had plenty of guest or less familiar beers alongside the usual pub choices. There's lots of seating indoors as well, and it's easy to reach on the main road.

We were made to feel at home straight away by the friendly, welcoming staff at The Crown. Our recently refurbished room was comfortable and finished to a high standard, and we enjoyed the well-priced, delicious food and the range of beers and wines at the bar. We stayed on Saturday night, when the bar was lively and added to the atmosphere. We'd gladly stay again.
