The cottage was immaculate, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for the weekend, including plenty of clothes storage. The king-sized bed was so comfortable that we slept later than we have in years. Fiona greeted us and showed us into the lovely accommodation. Outside, the garden looked beautiful, with the sound of water trickling in the little stream. Fresh bread, milk, butter and marmalade were thoughtful extras and made a tasty snack when we arrived. The village is like a chocolate box dream. We were too busy to sit outside, but there’s a lovely spot to do so. The local pub is welcoming and serves great food. Highly recommend.

Gable Cottage was peaceful and well located for Rutland Water, Oakham and the surrounding villages. The Blue Ball pub is just a four-minute walk away, with wonderful food and lovely locals. Fiona met us at the cottage, showed us around and was a great host. Homemade bread, milk and juice in the fridge were a lovely touch. We stayed two nights in July and were very happy. The cottage was spacious and comfortable for four adults, we slept wonderfully, and all the amenities and facilities were clean and worked perfectly. We’d highly recommend Gable Cottage and would happily stay again on our next visit.

Fiona met us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. She showed us where things were and how they worked, and answered all our questions. The cottage was spotless, just as described, and we’d definitely come back for another holiday.

Fiona was a friendly, welcoming host, and we found the cottage exactly as described, very clean, with extremely comfortable beds. We had underestimated how challenging the many steps and low seating would be. Given my husband’s age and restricted mobility, it perhaps wasn’t the wisest choice for us.

Gable cottage is in a lovely village and kept immaculate. Fiona and Richard are wonderful hosts who’ll do anything to help. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is excellent. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, can’t wait to go back, and would definitely recommend this B & B.
