The staff were cheerful and welcoming, and one receptionist in particular really tried to help when my lift was late and I needed a taxi to reach the station quickly. I didn’t get her name, but she deserves a special mention. My room was extremely clean, the bathroom spotless, and the bed comfortable. It was quiet, and having a bath as well as a shower was great, since so many Airbnbs and hotels only have showers and I love an evening bath. No complaints at all. Premier Inn do it right. A very pleasant stay, and I look forward to coming back.

We ended up staying three nights instead of two so we could spend longer with family, and would definitely stay again. We had breakfast every day, probably one of the best we’ve had at any of the other Premier Inns we’ve visited. Everyone on reception and in the restaurant was so lovely and friendly. There was building work going on, which we knew about before booking, but it never caused us any inconvenience.

There isn’t a restaurant at present because one is being built, but breakfast time came with complimentary hot drinks, really good coffee, pastries and fruit. Nearby there was an American diner, Starbucks and KFC, and the hotel is not too far from town. The hotel was very clean, with ample parking and helpful, friendly staff. Our spacious first-floor room was comfortable and clean, with a tidy bathroom and a really refreshing shower. The bed and pillows were very comfortable too. I’d recommend staying here and would come back.

This was my worst Premier Inn experience. The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke. Staff apologised when I reported it but didn’t try to fix anything. Our food took an hour and a half to arrive, and staff apologised again, but that isn’t good enough. If there’s a delay, guests should be told and reimbursed. Apologies without action don’t feel genuine. The refurbished bar has no toilet, so you have to go back to your room, which is awkward if you’re meeting someone for a meal or staying on the second floor. There’s no pub at this hotel. My Caesar salad had no cheese, and the Cadburys sundae came with just three chocolate buttons and a flake. Breakfast was very average, with overcooked sausage and cool bacon, though the breakfast staff were lovely and I did get freshly cooked eggs.

The evening meal was awful and I wouldn’t eat dinner there again. My Sweet and Sour Prawns with rice cost £15 and came with five prawns, rice that tasted like it was from a microwave bag, and a lot of sweet and sour sauce. I saw a Sharwoods jar in the kitchen. To be fair, breakfast was a big improvement. The staff were very polite, and I’m sure the chef can only cook with the ingredients supplied.
