I couldn't make my booking because of a family emergency. I first asked for a refund and was told no because of the policy, which I accepted. Then I asked to move the dates so I wouldn't lose the money. The property didn't answer, and after I followed up twice, I was told to go through booking.com, which was what I was already doing. I explained that the property needed to accept the date-change request, but heard nothing. Booking.com's customer service contacted them for me and got the same reply, so they tried again. The property then said changing the dates would cost another £25. I refused because the dates I chose cost the same as the original booking. After I messaged once more, there was still no reply. By then the booking date had passed, so I went directly to booking.com for a refund. The property refused. I've now disputed it with my bank and will take it to a manager. The customer service and communication were absolutely shocking.

On a winter night at 10:30 pm, I tried to shower but got only cold water. I let it run for 20 minutes and it never warmed up. I can put up with old facilities and no staff contact at night, but I can't accept a hotel failing to provide something as basic as hot water for a shower.

The bathroom was nice, and the room had the basic amenities needed for a one-night budget stay. The TV signal wasn't very good. There was a strong cigarette smell, dust in parts of the room, and the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied after the previous guests. It was also noisy at night.

I found bed bugs on the bed, and the property said there was no other room because they were full. They tried to make me doubt what I'd seen, saying they hadn't received previous complaints. No one was at the front desk, so the whole conversation happened over the phone. We left after midnight, but they refused a refund. I messaged to ask about it and was ignored.

I accidentally booked for tonight instead of the weekend, and realised just seconds after making the reservation. That was completely my mistake. What shocked me was how unresponsive management was: they declined my cancellation request and wouldn't move the booking to the weekend, even though I said I'd pay any difference. This is nonsense and utterly unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Don't make the mistake of booking here.
