Ethos Hotel

Prerna, the lovely woman working behind the bar, worked tirelessly and made our stay run smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked apartment 4 directly with the hotel, along with a VIP car park space for the weekend. They offered us free breakfast, which we used on only one of the two nights we booked. The serviced apartment had digital number locks, which came in handy because we didn’t need a physical key. There were lots of TV screens and good internet. The location is superb, just a 10/15 min walk from the city centre. We really enjoyed the stay and will be back!

The room and bathroom were clean, and I thought it was brilliant to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast was very good, and the complimentary water and crisps were a nice touch. I got free breakfast for two, and since I was on my own, they let my daughter have the other one. I was very grateful. Not all Oxford students are minted! 😂 I chose Ethos because it’s less than five minutes from my daughter’s university accommodation, and the city centre is under a ten-minute walk away. It’s a great location. One thing to be aware of if you’re on a tight budget: they take £150.00 from your card at check-in. You get it back when you leave, but you aren’t told until then, and it could be an issue if you only have a debit card and no credit card. Would I stay again? Yes, definitely. Better than a premier inn! I can’t comment on parking because I came by train.

The apartment worked perfectly for my family of six and suited our time in Oxford really well. The Ethos Hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood just south of Christ Church. It’s wonderfully located, and the staff were courteous and helpful. Highly recommend!

The food and staff were good. The feta cheese salad was generous and tasty, the chicken pizza was lovely, and the G&T and bottled ginger beer were reasonably priced. Breakfast was tasty and filling too. The waitress was very pleasant. I had the full English, and my scrambled egg on sour dough with parmasen was very nice. On arrival, the male receptionist was very polite. We stayed one night for a concert on weds 11th November. There was an unexpected £150 holding fee even though I’d paid in full. Parking cost £29.50, but we had £20 credit to spend on food or drink. Room 105 was spacious and warm, but four light bulbs were out. Cleanliness was average and the room rather dusty. We got back from the show at 10.30pm. We’d been told the bar was open until 11pm, but the lady was cashing up and wouldn’t serve us a drink. That was a bit naughty. I can’t grumble about the food or staff, but they need to keep on top of the accommodation and stick to the stated times.
