The barber next door tried to help and managed to reach the owner, who apparently does exist. The owner claimed we hadn’t paid, although we obviously had, and told us to go away. It seems he has no time or interest in managing his own business. We’d booked through Hotels.com and had received confirmation the day before, but no access code. Check-in was at 15:00. When we arrived, nobody answered the supplied phone number or the iRing, and the number listed here didn’t exist. There was no way to contact the owner, which is unacceptable. It was graduation weekend and Oxford was packed, so we had to book a last-minute place in another city and take a coach to get there.

Beware. I booked a one-bedroom apartment and was given a little room instead. The property wouldn’t respond to any kind of message, and Booking.com was no better. My room was noisy because it faced a busy road, and it hadn’t been cleaned properly. There are plenty of better choices in Oxford.

The price was competitive and the location looked good, so it seemed like a good deal. But the hotel cancelled my booking several weeks before the stay without explaining why. I tried calling and they never picked up. Now I have to find another hotel just weeks ahead, and it’ll cost outrageously more. I’m really frustrated and annoyed.

It’s 22.25 and I’m on my way back to London because I never got a code to enter my room. Tomorrow morning I’ll have to catch the 7.50 train again. The website number is wrong and nobody answers the bell. I tried the barber next door and the pub across the road, but neither could help. I’ve got nothing polite to say, so I’ll stop here.

There was no one on site, and nobody picked up when we called. We were left outside at 6:30 at night with nowhere to go. The room we’d booked was occupied and a mess when we arrived, and the owner questioned whether I was being honest about what had happened. I’m really disappointed. I still can’t believe this happened.
