The room was beautiful, just what we were hoping for, and the gentleman at reception on Friday 30th made everything go smoothly. I wish we'd got his name. He was so friendly and helpful, and his care really made our stay special. We stayed at Rhodes House for a weekend in January. The accommodation was spotless, full of fascinating history, and right in the centre. Thank you for such a lovely stay. We're very grateful and highly recommend Rhodes House.

The staff were welcoming and professional, and the place felt peaceful while still making a strong impression. Rhodes House is a beautiful historic building, with striking architecture and a calm, elegant feel. Its well-kept surroundings and historic interior give it a real sense of purpose. It would suit events or meetings, or a visit just to appreciate Oxford's heritage. I left with a lasting impression.

The rooms are a good size and the bathroom was lovely. It's right by the natural history museum, and getting there by park and ride was easy. There's no parking at the hotel. I'd be happy to stay again on my next trip to Oxford.

Rhodes House has lovely gardens and a great Oxford location, and it's a gorgeous, striking venue. My room was quaint and cozy, just right for one night. The service team were lovely and accommodating. The lift was out of order, but they carried my bags up several flights of stairs. The cafe is nice, with good breakfast choices for a quick meal. I would have liked more signs and information from staff. It's a smaller, almost B&B-style stay, so it may not suit someone used to the facilities of a larger hotel group, but I enjoyed my visit.

Rhodes House feels like a quiet escape, even though Oxford's busy centre is only a short walk away. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with broad lawns, mature trees and tucked-away spots for a bit of reflection. The building also continues as a working home for scholars, hosting events, lectures and gatherings that carry on its purpose of international scholarship and collaboration. Inside, the rooms are impressive but welcoming. The high-ceilinged grand hall, with portraits of Rhodes Scholars, has a strong sense of history, while the library and meeting areas feel peaceful and suited to study or discussion. Designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in the 1920s, the house brings together traditional Oxford character and South African influences, including elegant stonework, wood panelling and well-kept gardens. It's one of Oxford's hidden gems, where scholarship, architecture and history come together in an unusual setting. Whether you're there for an academic event, a guided tour or just to enjoy the surroundings, it stays with you. Rhodes House is both a reminder of Oxford's global connections and a working home for generations of scholars helping shape the future.
