The location right by the train was really convenient, and we had a lovely three-night stay at Westgate Hotel. Steve gave us helpful pub and sightseeing tips, and the breakfast staff were all attentive and kind. Our room was clean and just right, with a recently updated bathroom and enough space when a third person came to visit. We enjoyed sitting outside at the Garden Cafe. There was construction near the station in April 2026, but the little noise didn't bother us, and nights were quiet. I'd definitely recommend Westgate.

The room had no heat all night during my stay on 21-22 November 2025, booked through Agoda. Staff later confirmed the heater needed bleeding. That was uncomfortable, but what concerned me most was being unable to reach anyone. I tried the emergency number eight times from 21:49 to 22:05, with no answer. I'll attach screenshots of my call log. Being left in a cold room without any way to contact staff felt like a serious safety issue. If there'd been a medical or other emergency, no one would've helped. I also paid an extra £20 on arrival for a private bathroom, which was pointless in those conditions. Staff apologised the next morning and offered breakfast, but that didn't make up for the lack of support. I complained to the hotel later and got no reply, even after more than a month. Since posting this review, the hotel has said it made no contact, but I have three emails from Agoda saying they were trying to reach them. I contacted the hotel too, and only after the review went public did I get a message saying nothing. Not a good customer service experience either. Check your email and answer the phone. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Comfort and emergency help shouldn't be optional.

For what we needed, the family room was perfectly fine. It looked a bit dated, but was very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, and the location is ideal for the station and Oxford city centre. Breakfast was continental, with plenty to choose from: cereal, granola, muesli, yoghurt, croissants, pain chocolate, fresh fruit, toast, juice, tea and coffee. The roadworks outside didn't bother us, though maybe we were lucky with the timing. It was cheaper than most other Oxford options, and sharing the cost made it good value. We had a pleasant, convenient stay and would come again.

We arrived at night and there wasn't any water in the room. They should leave at least two bottles. Aside from that, it was a nice stay: the bed was amazingly comfortable, breakfast was a big portion, and the staff were helpful.

I've stayed twice, both times in a twin en-suite in the main building. It's an old hotel, which I think gives it character, and it's clean, comfortable and good value. The location works really well for the station, city and a peaceful walk by the canal. If you need parking, it's arranged a short distance away for £12.50 per night, which is cheap for 24-hour parking in Oxford.
