The Bankfoot Inn

The free parking right outside was handy, and breakfast was a nice start to the day. I stayed a night at the Bankfoot Inn while travelling through, just off the A9. It’s a cozy place with a friendly village feel and good value for a comfortable stopover. Easy, pleasant stay.

The shared bathroom was only a short way down the hall. My single room had a sink, flat screen TV, and tea and coffee, though it wasn’t fully ensuite. Everything was exceptionally clean and tidy. Gillian and the team were so welcoming that I felt like a regular. There’s a lovely little bar too, with great food for the price. Well worth staying.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, and a delightful young woman served me efficiently. The beer was another matter. Real Ale was advertised, but both handpulls were empty, with “there’s no demand” given as the reason. I don’t think that’s really true. I tried a pint of Guinness instead, and it wasn’t that good either, perhaps because there isn’t much demand for that. Fine food, but not beer.

We brought our dog on this last minute getaway, and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. We enjoyed both the Full Scottish breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, with great service and very reasonable prices. Loved our stay at The Bankfoot Inn and are already looking forward to coming back when we’re in the area.
