Holiday Inn Express Peterborough

The room, with a double bed and sofa, was faultless, and parking, beer prices and the dinner menu were all okay. There’s a Miller and Carter beside the hotel if you’d rather eat out. Staff were excellent at check-in, at the bar and over breakfast. Breakfast was the main thing I could fault. Since it’s an Express, I assume, there were no mushrooms, black pudding, or fried or poached eggs. The sausage and bacon were dry. There’s no air conditioning, which would be a problem in summer, though it was fine in December. I booked two days but cancelled the second because I like to wander around and there wasn’t much to do near the hotel.

The hotel itself was lovely and clean, and we’d stay again. The car park signs weren’t clear, though. We arrived late, found the front spaces full, and assumed the road on the left led to the rear car park. It turned out to be a dead end, so we and another car had to reverse back down. Housekeeping was also noisy around 8.30 or 9am, banging doors shut.

Such good value, with a really generous hot breakfast and a quiet, roomy, comfortable room. I had the best night’s sleep away from home in ages. Highly recommend, and thank you!

I got a bottle of champagne and a card to mark my wedding, which was such a thoughtful touch. Check-in was impressively efficient, and the staff were both friendly and really helpful. Special thanks to Sinead for leading the team at Holiday Inn Express.
