Parking is behind the building, though the deep gravel could be tricky in very wet weather. Despite being right by the A1, we didn't hear the traffic in our room, probably thanks to the very thick walls. The price was cheap, and the sheets and towels were bright white and clean. There was tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, plus a good TV and WiFi. The rooms are warm and cosy, with what you need. It's an old group of buildings, so the floors creak and the plumbing is dated, but that didn't put us off. We stayed here back in the 90s and it hasn't changed, though the bar feels friendlier now and the rooms cosier. You can feel the history as soon as you come in, and its roots go back to around 1571. The bar is welcoming, the food generous and top quality, and both the bar staff and chef couldn't have done more, 10/10 for them. Can't fault it for a function or a stopover, just perfect.

The only small drawback is being on the A1, so it's a bit noisy outside. You can't hear the road from the rooms or bar, though. It's a cosy pub and restaurant with lovely staff and really tasty food, plus plenty of gluten free options. The rooms are nicely decorated and have what you need. The location works well for Peterborough and some lovely villages nearby. I'd happily stay again!

Frasier really stood out, looking after the front desk as well as serving drinks in the pub. He was friendly and shared some of the hotel's history. The staff generally were helpful and accommodating, making sure we were comfortable. Our room was clean when we arrived and had shortcake cookies waiting for us. The rooms are cute, and the prices are very good for the quality and service. There's a nice field behind the hotel and a garden guests can walk around, which is great if you're travelling with a dog. The pub and restaurant are well designed and cosy. It's a fantastic hotel in a quaint part of England, just north of Peterborough, and being dog friendly makes it an excellent choice for people with pets.

Breakfast was fresh and tasty, and our spotless room had a beautiful view. We loved this quaint, traditional inn, especially the cosy fire in the bar and the friendly staff. It made a perfect base for a nearby Christmas market. Thank you, Frazer and team 😊 We'll definitely be back.

We stayed in courtyard room 10 at this lovely country hotel near Stamford. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished, with a warm, homely feel. Everyone on staff was lovely. We had drinks beside the fire in the cosy pub-style bar, and breakfast was included, a decent English breakfast. We'll definitely return!
