The room was lovely, with period fittings, and the tables were set beautifully. The toilets were spotless and disabled friendly, and parking was good too. We came with the family for festive afternoon tea and had a wonderful time. Fine sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and clotted cream, plus a superb selection of teas, all served with care by professional staff. Boringdon Hall and its location are steeped in history. If you fancy treating yourself to festive afternoon tea, this is the place.

The spa is a real treat when you want to switch off, and the food feels thoughtfully done. The staff generally look after you well, too. Boringdon Hall has bags of character, from the old stonework and tucked away corners to its slightly dramatic feel, so it feels special as soon as you arrive. Some parts are pricier than they should be, and a few areas need freshening up to live up to the rest. The place can lean a bit heavily on its grand reputation. Still, it’s a lovely choice for a special occasion or a quiet escape, and when it gets things right, it’s memorable.

We booked a Wellness Room with breakfast and upgraded to the Àclèaf dining package for my wife's birthday getaway. The team greeted us warmly with refreshing drinks and got us settled quickly. Early check-in was a good call and gave us more time. Boringdon Hall sits on a hill, and its stunning historic building made the occasion feel special from the moment we drove up. The highlight was Gaia Spa. There were several steam rooms and saunas, hot and cold showers, a huge heated pool and a Hydrotherapy pool with an outdoor swim through to a jacuzzi overlooking the countryside. We had one of our most relaxing, de-stressing afternoons in years. Later, drinks by the log fire in the magnificent Great Hall bar were a lovely way to ease into the evening. Our Wellness Room was immaculate, with a beautiful mix of modern luxury and views down to the historic hall. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the spotless bathroom had generous, high-quality spa amenities. They’d left a birthday card and a champagne cork with a note offering complimentary champagne in the great hall bar, an exquisite touch. Dinner at Michelin Star Àclèaf was extraordinary, a culinary experience we’ll cherish and an absolute must for a stay. After a few more blissful hours at the spa in the morning, we had breakfast at the Mayflower Brasserie restaurant. It was one of the best full English breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. Boringdon Hall is something special, carried out to an exceptionally high standard. Thank you for making such an exquisite, memorable place. We’ll most certainly return.

Kelly gave me an amazing massage. She was outstanding, and I couldn’t fault her. The spa itself was overcrowded and not very relaxing, though. The facilities felt tired, with peeling paint by the hand dryers, tiny lockers and thin, worn robes. The showers were being replaced, but nobody told us, so we couldn’t use them. We stayed one night, and for the room price there was nothing outstanding. The female receptionist on the phone didn’t acknowledge us when we tried to check out. The service and facilities didn’t feel worth the price.
