The hotel is handy for Derriford Hospital, which is within walking distance, and there's also a Starbucks and The Range supermarket nearby. Parking is free and plentiful. I found the rooms clean, neat and well kept, and the air conditioning and climate control worked perfectly throughout my stay. It's budget friendly while still being comfortable and good quality. The shared laundry area costs very little, a real plus for a longer visit. The dining space had a pleasant feel and a good choice of food. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it.

My family spent three days here. We appreciated the polite, accommodating staff, and there was a Laundromat on our floor. The restaurant and room service could supply drinks and ice until late, and a cold water dispenser was in the hallway. In the room we had what we needed, including an iron and board, a decent under-counter fridge, tea and coffee, plus a full-size bath and shower.

The rooms are spacious and the location is a real advantage. Everything was spotless, and the staff were friendly enough to make the stay enjoyable. But the beds let the place down badly: old-style spring mattresses, probably more than ten years old, with a noticeable dip and a very uncomfortable feel. The rooms also show wear.

The buffet breakfast was the best part for me: tasty, with plenty of choice, good quality food, and pancakes and omelettes made to order. It was expensive at £15 pre-booked or £17 on the day. The bar staff and breakfast team were pleasant, but both front desk staff I spoke to came across as dismissive. Some customer service training would help. We stayed two nights around a wedding. The rooms for the wedding and reception looked amazing, and the hotel did a great job bringing the couple's vision to life. Our bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable, and I slept well, though staff talking and banging outdoor bins below our window woke me early on the first morning. The rooms feel dated, like stepping back to 2005, and could use refurbishment. The hallways smelled damp and of cannabis, though I wouldn't blame the hotel for the latter, and the lifts felt very old too. Dinner was dry and disappointed many guests; some said the roast was like a school dinner. I did enjoy my salmon fillet. At the desk, we explained that two separate bookings had been extended and we'd been told to ask to merge them at arrival. A younger staff member complained about having to sort it out and said he'd struggle, which wasn't something we should have been made to worry about. I'm sure it was inexperience and he'll learn. Despite some good points and its success as a wedding venue, I'd choose a local Ibis or Travelodge instead for more modern rooms, better food overall and friendlier service at a much lower price.
