Heights Hotel

The staff were super friendly, everything looked very clean, and the robot waitress was a fun surprise. It comes over to greet you and delivers your order. We had a good afternoon and I'd come back. The hotel is a little off the beaten track for many of the mainland's benefits, but it's easy to reach by car and has its own car park right next to it. There are lovely walks around Portland and stunning views from the cafe and terrace. If beautiful views are what you're after, the location gets five stars.

The carvery was the best we've ever had, and the Portland mess dessert was lovely and really nicely presented. Our window table had absolutely stunning views. It was our first visit to the bistro restaurant on Sunday, and we had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly, especially our waitress Belinda, who was lovely and accommodating. Thanks to chef Ross and his team for a fantastic meal. I highly recommend the Heights Hotel portland. We'll definitely return, and use the hotel next time too.

The view is amazing, simple as that. My girlfriend and I stayed for a little getaway and loved it. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy, with decent amenities, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good in the Bistro, Bar and adjoining cafe. There were plenty of gifts in the gift shop inside, too.

The lamb special with potatoes and veggies was amazing, and the drinks, meal and dessert were all nice. But the waitresses really need to improve their service. They kind of ruined my birthday evening, though it won't put me off coming back. I'm writing this so management can see the service needs attention. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner. First we were offered a table so close to another couple it felt like we could sit in their laps. We asked to move and were seated in a very dark room, where we had to use our phone torches to read the menu. That was embarrassing. Another waitress then asked if we'd prefer a lighter room, and of course we did. We had to move twice before we could finally settle. The place wasn't busy, just four other people besides us, but it took nearly ten minutes for three waitresses to bring two drinks, a shandy and a glass of e3d wine. When we asked for the bill, they brought it quickly, then all three ignored us for twenty minutes. Eventually we went to the bar to pay. They were chatting behind the bar and ignored us for about another minute while we stood there. Seriously?
