The food was a real highlight. We chose the meal deal, which was excellent value, and all five of us enjoyed our two course evening meals with a drink. There was a good choice of starters and mains, and nobody had a complaint. Breakfast was just as good, with the usual cereals and a full English, all self service and as much as you wanted. The bar and waiting staff were pleasant too. Finding this Premier Inn took some doing. It’s very close to another one, but set back beside a closed Pizza Hut. We drove past three times in the dark and heavy rain, and needed a drink once we finally got inside. Check in itself was straightforward, with a polite, helpful man. The rooms were clean and a reasonable size, with air conditioning and heating, plus tea and coffee making facilities, though no biscuits. The bed was firm, had a good topper, and came with quality cotton sheets. We’d read a few negative comments before travelling 160 miles for a funeral, so I was a bit anxious. All five of us, senior citizens who’ve been around the block, enjoyed our stay. Written on behalf of the group.
It was remarkably quiet all night, and I slept really well on the comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. Breakfast was the best I’ve had at a Premier Inn, with lots of choice, great hot food and plenty of seating. The staff were friendly and got me checked in quickly even though their systems were down. The hotel and room were spotlessly clean. My standard room was spacious, with a fantastic shower and tea and coffee facilities. There was more tea and coffee free downstairs by reception, and you could use either the lift or stairs. The air conditioning made the room very cold when I first arrived, but it warmed up quickly. Parking cost £3 for 24 hours when I visited. The payment kiosk just inside the door was easy to use, but required a physical card rather than chip and PIN. You could also pay by Google Pay or Apple Pay using a QR code.
We’ve stayed here a couple of times now, and it’s been great on every visit. The location is good, and the hotel feels clean, tidy and relaxed. All the staff are lovely, especially Tina, who couldn’t do more for us. We’ll definitely be back.
The room was clean and the heating worked well. But please get rid of those Kimberly Clark toilet paper dispensers. When the sheets don’t overlap, you need fingers like a witch to pull out more paper. Room 101! The food is the usual quality for a Premier Inn, though it often feels as if they’re short staffed, so service can take a bit too long. The staff themselves are doing their best, and I can’t fault them.
The staff were polite and service was good, but the building needs a lot of work. The carpets are old and dated, and the walls in our room were cracked, with several badly filled holes. The shower didn’t work either. The website says there are EV charging points in the car park, but there aren’t. It took me two hours to find one that suited my car. We could also hear people in the rooms above and beside us, something I’ve never encountered at a Premier Inn before. This was my first time at this one. It wasn’t bad overall, but it badly needs a refurbishment.
