The Priory Inn

We were ready for a full day at windemere after a relaxing night here. The apartment was clean, modern and lovely, and breakfast the next morning was divine. The village itself is lovely, with a shop and a place called the barn for a sweet treat. Staff were friendly, helpful and seemed happy. We stopped for an overnight stay on the way to the lake district, and would recommend it. We'll definitely return.

Breakfast the next morning was really nice, which was the saving grace of our stay. We paid £109 for Friday night while attending a wedding in wyresdale park, and left a bit disappointed. The old, creaky B&B has its charm, but the room needed a deep clean, with dust on the ledges and behind the table. The bathroom needed attention too: old dirt packed around the shower track, limescale under the toilet rim and dust along the trim. There was a musty smell at bedtime, and the duvet throw could use an airing.

My mum and dad really enjoyed their stay, and the rooms themselves are lovely. The location deserves full stars, with lovely areas to visit and places to eat nearby, plus a cosy cafe of their own. I'd take a star off the service and rooms because the Wi-Fi wasn't working and the radiators didn't feel very hot.

The shop across the road is well stocked, and we had a great breakfast. We stayed because we were meeting friends for a meal just up the road. Our room was nice, with a large, well-decorated bathroom, and the staff were very friendly. It's a shame the cafe/bar doesn't stay open later in the evening, though I understand there may not be enough demand.
