The receptionist was lovely, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. I expected a decent night away with my partner, and the website photos were misleading. The room was tiny, dated and cramped, with low ceilings that would be a problem for anyone over 5ft10. The bathroom needed a deep clean, and there was no breakfast, bottled water or soya milk. We paid an extra £15 to check in early, and the hotel itself was way overpriced. Our wedding was a seven-minute taxi ride away, but each trip cost £25, a shocking fare. A solo artist played so loudly that we couldn't relax or hear the TV, and the music was still blaring at 10pm. Noise from other guests walking around added to it. What should have been a lovely night turned stressful. I hate leaving a bad review, but it has to be said.

The staff were attentive and accommodating, and let our group take its time. There were 11 of us for lunch at The George, and we'd ordered our sandwiches in advance. Everything was tasty, the portions were generous, and the value was fantastic. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend.

We were made to feel welcome and settled in easily, even on a rainy afternoon. In Pangbourne, the George Hotel is central and easy to find. They have rooms as well as a good choice of lunch options and a cold pint.

The bar was warm, comfortable and welcoming, and the beer was great. I went in several evenings in a row because they had such good football coverage. I'll definitely visit again.

The train, or whatever it was, seemed to pass every ten minutes, and I got no sleep. I stayed for one night on 5 September, thank goodness it was only one. The room was cramped and filthy, and the bathroom was disgusting. The pictures on this website don't match what you find on arrival. I wouldn't go back.
