We usually enjoy staying at Premier Inn, but this one wasn't up to that standard. The room looked old and tatty, though we could have lived with that. What was much worse was the persistent bathroom smell, like a sewage works. The sealant behind the toilet was peeling and there was mold in the shower. The room hadn't been cleaned properly. I told reception when someone was finally available; they cleaned it, but the smell remained, so I bought air freshener and surface cleaner to try to cover it. There was also constant noise from footsteps in the room above, including someone pacing for an hour at 2am. The soundproofing clearly wasn't adequate. I understand the hotel is undergoing improvements.

I usually have nothing but praise for Premier Inns, but this stay was a poor experience. We ended up moving rooms twice. In the first, two mattresses had been put together, with uneven, very hard seams that pulled apart and made the bed uncomfortable. The second room's heating couldn't be controlled there; reception adjusted it from a main panel downstairs to 21 degrees, but the room still felt very cold. The final room was fine, though it had only one towel, which I didn't notice until morning. We also asked for the room to be serviced. When we came back, I could tell the bin had been emptied, but the toilet hadn't been cleaned. They left fresh towels and a bath mat, but all the dirty laundry was still there 🫤.

The only real convenience was being about 10 minutes from the train station. Otherwise, this fell short of what I expect from Premier Inn. I arrived Sunday afternoon and found that the free breakfast promotion I'd booked for my three-night stay wouldn't be honoured because the restaurant was being renovated. If I'd known, I would've stayed somewhere else. The hotel hadn't flagged this on its website beforehand, and still hasn't mentioned it, which feels dishonest. I don't blame the staff, who have the thankless job of explaining it to guests, including people who paid for breakfast. Complimentary pastries and fruit were offered, but it felt half-hearted. There was nowhere to put clothes except a chair, which I can't remember happening at another Premier Inn. And the shower water took a few minutes to drain after I got out, so I was paddling before heading to the beach.

My little girl and I stayed for a few nights, and the room was clean, cosy and perfect for us. The bed was comfortable, it was super quiet at night, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They even rang me and returned a personal item I'd left behind. Parking is free for guests, just enter your registration at reception. The pub was shut for refurbishment during our visit, but they provided complimentary breakfast pastries and drinks. There's loads nearby: shops, pubs, restaurants, swimming, the cinema, the beach, plenty of parks and soft plays. A perfect base for visiting Rhyl, and we'd definitely stay again when we're in the area.

Allan made check-in easy, and the hotel was ideally located for what we needed. It was a typical Premier Inn room. There was only one towel, but reception sorted it quickly. It felt odd that there was no shower gel in the holder in the bath. The night staff were really helpful when I needed a bit of help.
