The stairs could be a problem for older guests with mobility issues, especially the flight up to reception, and there was only one lift for all the floors. That aside, we enjoyed our stay. We came with a friend in September, returning to Jersey for the first time since we were teenagers, 53 years ago. Tantivvy coaches dropped us at the wrong Norfolk hotel after leaving the airport, but when we reached the Lodge we were greeted by very friendly staff. The hotel was a little dated but spotlessly clean, with good food, fantastic staff and okay evening entertainment. The number 19 bus stops outside and goes into St Helier centre.

There was entertainment every night, with plenty of variety, and the swimming pool was great, though I wish it had a jacuzzi. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the hotel was clean and tidy. Food options were fantastic, and everything we tried was well cooked and tasty. The bar was great too, though the prices definitely felt like holiday prices. I'd recommend it and will book again.

We were impressed by the pool, and both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were excellent. The place has a cosy, old-fashioned feel. Getting into town was a longer walk than I'd like in bad weather, but there were plenty of taxis around.

The food was outstanding, and the rooms, staff and facilities were all excellent. Some people call the hotel dated, but to me that only applies to the surface. We'll definitely return to the Norfolk Lodge Hotel.

The pool was good for swimming proper lengths and deep enough for diving and jumping. At night, the lit water made for a great atmosphere, though you couldn't see anything outside in the dark. We also really enjoyed the evening entertainment, apart from a few occasions when it seemed aimed more at a much older crowd, so I got a bit bored as a teenager. Drinks were great, and you can't beat a J20! Staff were friendly and service was good. One night, though, there was a mix-up over my meal. I was a teenager and should have ordered from the adult menu, but I chose a kids' menu pizza and waited more than an hour and a half for it. That didn't happen again, and the other meals went smoothly. 4*
