Rollestone Manor

We felt well looked after as we got our bearings in England, thanks to how friendly and helpful everyone was. It was our first stop on our first trip abroad, and this country manor made a peaceful place to start. The rooms were better than five-star, and dinner felt elegant and special. And English breakfasts really are the best!

Dinner here is a whole experience. You need to reserve, even as a guest, then choose your meal in the little lounge over drinks before heading through to the table. There are knick-knacks to look at while you enjoy a quiet drink. The food was hot, generous in size, and had an exceptional balance of flavors, with the quality you’d expect from a five-star London restaurant. The B&B itself is peaceful and rural, not far from Stonehenge. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, with the basics, and the hosts are friendly and charming. The village has a few historic sights, though most seem to draw local interest. It’s a lovely quiet break for two, especially if you’re happy with the no-under-18s rule. Top shelf. I’ll be back.

The location was great and the rooms were lovely. That’s pretty much where the good points end. Breakfast was poor, the coffee was the worst I’ve had, and the hosts made my friend and me feel unwelcome.
