A last minute Valentine’s getaway, and luckily they had a room free. The location is close to the A38 near Saltash but much quieter than I expected, with lovely views. The food was plentiful and spot on, the bed was comfortable, and the room was warm. The shower was wonderfully hot and powerful. The rooms do feel a little tired and could use an update. There was no milk for the tea and coffee, one biscuit packet was missing, and I found an empty one on the floor beside the bed. We might book it for our 12th wedding anniversary party later this year.

The staff were friendly, and the food was generally good and plentiful, but the room was nowhere near the four star experience we expected. It felt very tired and needed updating. Paint was chipped on the skirting and table tops, the tabletop felt sticky, and the curtain tie back was loose. There were holes in the bath panels, and with no radiator in the bathroom it was a really cold space. The shower was just about adequate. We’d booked an overnight stay in a pet friendly room.

The owners and staff were so welcoming, and the food and accommodation were both just what I wanted for a country getaway. It’s got the cosy pub and restaurant feel you’d hope for in the middle of winter, and it was great value too. The room rate included a really good breakfast.

I’m often away for work, and sometimes you come across a little gem. The Crooked Inn was one of those stays: lovely staff, fabulous food, a comfortable night and a great breakfast. Highly recommended.

I’ve stopped in for lunch a few times. The food’s fresh and excellent, with good sized portions, and the atmosphere is great. Staff are friendly too. It’s easy to reach off the motorway and not far from Saltash or Cotehele.
