Cheryl at reception made us feel welcome straight away. She was warm, friendly and really helpful. The clean, fresh smelling hotel impressed us from the start, as we hadn't expected much from our one night. Our small double was well priced, and we were surprised to find a sea view. The room was spotless, with a desk and chair and a small table with two chairs in the bay window. The bed was comfy, and the thick curtains kept the light out. Breakfast was good in a lovely dining room. It was quiet and we slept well. There's a decent Chinese restaurant ten minutes' walk away, and a good pub with real ales and ciders less than five minutes away. We were very happy to stay again.

For the price, we couldn't really ask for more. We were pleasantly surprised after reading the other reviews. On our one night stay the staff were friendly and accommodating with our dog, and the hallways and room were clean and smelled lovely. There was enough space for us and our large dog in a double room, and the hotel has great sea views.

The sea views over Scarborough's North Bay and the castle on the headland are amazing. Staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the price was reasonable. A great base for a North Yorkshire holiday.

The location was great, but that's where the good points ended. We paid for a sea view and could barely see anything through the filthy windows, and the TV was in the way. It should have been wall mounted. On arrival they told us very little, but insisted that we leave our key every time we went out. Then we had to queue to get it back. They also tried to charge us twice, even though we had already checked in and paid in full. The furniture and decor felt completely 1980s, and the heating was off so we were cold. Our first and last stay at a Brittania Hotel.

Our caravan site was evacuated after an unfortunate change in circumstances, so we booked this place at the last minute. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the room was comfortable and clean. The car park was full, but that wasn't a problem for us: they suggested other parking, there were plenty of spaces, and they gave us a disk for free overnight parking. Breakfast and the bar were fantastic. A very comfortable last minute stay. I'd highly recommend it.
