The potatoes were the letdown for me. Neither the mash nor the roast potatoes tasted real, which was a real disappointment for a Yorkshire lass who loves potatoes. The menu isn't very extensive, so I didn't expect that. We came over from Canada to see family and chose The Weston for lunch last Sunday to celebrate my Mum's 83rd birthday. The welcome was warm, and they found us a cosy seat by the fire while we waited for everyone else. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and spotless, and the staff were friendly and polite. I only had lunch, so I can't comment on the rooms, though the rest of the place gave me the impression they'd be lovely.

We've already booked another visit. The Weston Hotel is our favourite place for a getaway, and we love coming back. Room 32 on the third floor has a lovely harbour view, and the hotel is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The food is amazing, and the reception staff are always friendly and helpful. Can't ask for much more.

Cecils is fabulous, with great food and service, and we really like the staff's old-fashioned courtesy. They're both friendly and professional. We first came across the Weston by chance and were glad we did. We've stayed twice and are about to return. From the dining to the rooms, we have no complaints. Our first-floor room had wonderful sea views, and we'd definitely recommend the hotel. We've already recommended it to others. It's a special find these days.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel after the way our birthday trip went. My partner and I had only been there about five minutes, hadn't used anything, and I asked for a refund so we could leave. The hotel refused, and we were told to find somewhere else. Staff didn't help us arrange accommodation, and they expected us to pay more for another hotel. I hadn't agreed to stay in the room. With public transport in my tiny village stopping at 5:30 pm, I had no way home, so I spent the night in a chair by the window trying to distract myself from feeling claustrophobic. I had two panic attacks, and the staff didn't care. My partner and I have video evidence, and there was no damage to the room. We only took a nightshade off to let light in, since the room was as dark as a basement. It screws on and off and wasn't damaged. We also put the table mirror on the windowsill so we could see. The box room was horrendous and unsuitable for my claustrophobia and anxiety, and it caused a panic attack. The only other room available was even darker, cold, and beside the closets where all the noise is. It was the last room they rent out, clearly the worst one. There was dust above the pictures, on the headboard, and along the skirting, despite the room being described as spotless. I've worked in housekeeping for over 30 years, including as a head housekeeper, and this is poor housekeeping. Rooms should be checked to standard. After the hotel lied in its reply, I'm editing this: they never tried to help secure another place, and I never agreed to stay. They haven't tried to contact me either. We documented everything after the refund was refused. Stop lying and admit you treated a customer badly instead of acting childish. My partner and I have the videos.

Breakfast was lovely. The staff were welcoming and really helpful, and my clean, well-appointed room had a comfortable bed and a sea view.
