The Avenue

We felt at home here for a long weekend, with clean en-suite rooms and a warm welcome from Simon and Jonathan. Their tourist guidance helped us make the most of our stay. We really appreciated the honesty bar and the comfortable room where we could sit and chat at the end of the day. Couldn't ask for more.

The breakfast was the highlight of our weekend at The Avenue guest house. You just tell Jonathan what you'd like, and he cooks it fresh. The ingredients seemed high quality and everything was beautifully prepared. I tried the “double everything” more than once, and it kept me full until evening. Simon and Jonathan were lovely hosts, and they know the area well. Our room was clean and nicely presented, with a small en-suite that looked brand new. Everything worked properly. There’s also a conservatory, garden, TV lounge and bar. We had no trouble parking, though I can imagine the forecourt filling up at busy times. There is street parking too. We don’t get to the island often, but we’d stay at The Avenue again next time.

We tried The Avenue for the first time last week and have already booked another stay. The room was clean and pleasant, and breakfast was lovely. Simon and Jonathon were welcoming hosts and had plenty of good suggestions for things to see on the IOW. The honesty bar is a great idea, too. We’d definitely recommend it.

Those power showers are sublime, and this is easily the best B&B we’ve stayed in, even after loads of trips elsewhere. Simon and his son Johnathan make a great hosting team. They’re friendly without crowding you, and nothing seems like too much trouble. They also know the island well and have helpful ideas for places to visit and eat. I’d go back to the isle of white just to stay here again.
