The Swiss Cottage, Shanklin

We stayed last year and forgot to leave a review, but it was so good that we came back this year. We’re two couples, staying in two rooms for the IOW Festival. It’s only a 20 minute drive over, and we enjoy going to the very nearby beach in the mornings. The hosts are lovely and accommodating. The rooms are spotless, the beds very comfortable, and everything we needed was there, including a mini-fridge. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of options, and parking at the front is easy. We’ll be booking again for next year soon!

Breakfast had loads to choose from, and everything was really tasty. They were careful about allergies too, which mattered a lot to me with 30+ allergies. The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed, with all those thoughtful little extras that make a difference. The whole place feels wonderfully homely. Christine and Keith were so welcoming, helpful with questions, and full of good suggestions for places to eat and visit. You can tell how much pride they take in the hotel. I’d happily stay here again when I’m back on the Isle of Wight, and can’t wait to return.

Book directly with Keith and Christine if you can. It was cheaper, and they can arrange lower ferry prices. Keith even booked and coordinated our ferry trip for us. They were attentive, helpful hosts, and the homemade breakfast each morning was great. The hotel is also within walking distance of the beach. We’d stay here again next time we visit.

Keith and Christine made us feel like family, which meant a lot on my first trip back to the island since my grandparents passed away 10 years ago. My boyfriend and I stayed for a week in June, while my parents stayed for two weeks. I got engaged while we were there, and they helped make it so special. Everything about the stay was perfect. 11/10, definitely recommend. My fiancé and I plan to come back.
