I was there for a few hours for a family wake, not a business visit. They put on a lovely spread and the food was good. People who stayed at the hotel said the accommodation was very reasonably priced. The view was nice, with the hotel on the beach and a golf course as well.

The room was spacious and clean, with a great bathroom, and the hotel is just a five-minute walk from the beach. The main streets are about a 20-minute walk away. Access for a wheelchair was easy, and they let us park at the front by the disabled entrance. The service was great, friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely stay again.

There’s ample free parking, and the location works well for both the beach and town centre. My sea-view room was pleasant and spacious, with an excellent view and no clutter.

At 11:20 on Saturday 13 December, I was in bed with a live band playing at full volume. I went down to ask when it would finish and was told midnight. They offered to move me somewhere quieter, but my things were already unpacked. Why wasn’t I given that room at check-in? Guests should at least be warned then, or told on the website before booking. I was not happy. Maybe ask about this before you book.

The fish and chips and lasagne from the bar were very good, worth mentioning. But if you’re not here for the golf, it’s a tired old hotel. There were the usual sweary locals in the bar in front of my partner 🙄
