The meat was especially good, and everything we ate was such high quality. We came for Sunday lunch, not to stay in the rooms, and it was one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. The staff were happy to help with all our requests, and the atmosphere was lovely. What an incredible place. I’d highly recommend it if you’re nearby, or happy to travel a bit further for great food.

We’ll be back. The Devonshire is a peaceful spot, with plenty of places to visit within easy reach. The staff were welcoming and looked after us so well, and the food was top quality, breakfast included, with excellent local ingredients. I’m a beer drinker and really liked the ale selection. A fabulous place in an idyllic setting, and one we’d gladly recommend.

My Mum and Dad love coming here, and it’s a lovely drive through beautiful surroundings. We usually stop for cream teas, especially for the fantastic fresh gluten-free scone. Service is great and the atmosphere’s good too. In summer, sitting outside is lovely, while in winter we enjoy getting comfy on a sofa inside.

The Devonshire Arms made a great base for exploring the dales. We had a comfortable, clean room, and the fresh milk and chilled water in the hallway fridge were a thoughtful touch. Dinner was excellent, tasty and cooked perfectly with quality ingredients, and we enjoyed breakfast too. The family who run the place were very friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely stay this weekend.

They have EHU hookups for £15, which was handy for us in our motorhome when we stayed overnight in the car park. The pictures look empty because we took them the next morning. It’s a proper olde style country pub, with welcoming roaring fires, and it’s dog friendly. We ate in the bar, so I’m not sure about dogs in the main restaurant. The food was stunning, and it richly deserves its AA Culinary Excellence Rosette awards from last year and 2024. Definitely a contender for ‘Gastropub’ status.
