Eilean Iarmain Hotel

The birthday trip I planned for my wife turned out to be far better than we expected. Hotel Eilean Iarmain will be the first place we try to book if we return to this magical island. Breakfast both mornings was excellent, served with lovely service in a beautiful lounge overlooking the water. We also had dinner in the bar both nights so Saoirse could join us, and the food and service were exceptional. We arrived late on Friday after terrible weather and an unexpected detour, but Colin gave us a warm welcome and surprised us with a room upgrade. From then on, both we and our husky were treated like VIPs. Her welcome pack had a bed, water dish, ball and treats. The room was comfortable and warm. Even before we arrived, Matti and Colin had been excellent on the phone. Our stay was November 28-30. Highly recommend it as a quality base for exploring the Island of Skye. Thank you.

The breakfast was amazing, and the staff and atmosphere were really welcoming and friendly. The hotel has a big bed and a spacious bathroom, and the scenery on the drive in and out is stunning. It sits beside lovely views over the hill and towards the waterfront. There’s a real sense of history inside, with old-style decor and some amazing pictures on the walls. Well worth a visit.

The bar feels like a cozy meeting place for the village, and the rooms and shared spaces are comfortable and full of character. The setting is lovely too. Matti at reception was especially warm and friendly, and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit a good one. We absolutely loved staying here and will be back for a whiskey by the fire!

The cozy feel really made it feel like home, with the interior, fireplace and the warm connection between everyone, especially when everyone gathered in the bar at night. The room was better than I expected for a three-star hotel, well equipped, with plenty of towels and good-quality toiletries. As a solo traveler, I found the room and bed just the right size. The staff helped me out in several moments when I really needed it. I urgently needed something from a pharmacy when I first arrived, and with no supermarkets nearby, the housekeeper kindly gave me what I needed. Another day I got hungry between the chefs' shifts when there was no food available, but a staff member made me something without charging me. I wasn't prepared for the cold, so they gave me a hat and offered a warm jacket. When I checked out on a weekend with no buses running and very expensive taxis, the receptionist kindly offered to drive me to the ferry, about 20 minutes away, early in the morning.
