Holiday Inn Slough Windsor

The Brasserie was a real surprise. Feeding the whole family can get expensive, so the kids-eat-free deal with a paying adult was brilliant, and the pizzas in particular were fabulous. Sana and her colleagues gave great service, too. The rooms are good for the price and location. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the area.

Amelia, the waitress who looked after us at breakfast, was so friendly, attentive and genuinely warm. She made our mornings brighter, and deserves a special thank you. Breakfast itself was delicious, with lots of choice each morning. We also received a warm, polite welcome from the front office team. There’s plenty of parking, though it does cost extra. The Holiday Inn Windsor–Slough was clean, comfortable and well located, and the service made our stay. Highly recommend it, and thanks again to Amelia!

The welcome was lovely, and the smiley woman at arrival gave my daughter a colouring pack. The staff were friendly, but the place was filthy and things were broken. Cleaning was badly lacking, and breakfast was poor, with no vegetarian sausages. I tripped on the car park stairs because the reflective strip was coming loose and sliding. At checkout they only charged us for parking; I didn’t raise the problems then because I worried asking for a price reduction would turn into an argument. We’ve paid less for much nicer chain hotels. This was my first Holiday Inn stay, and I’m gutted I chose it just because I thought a chain would be cleaner. There were cheaper options. I’ll write it off as a bad stay and a reminder not to choose this chain again.

The rooms and shared areas were clean, but I won’t be returning. On the morning we were leaving, the hot water stopped working, so we couldn’t shower. Reception said there’d been an emergency and they’d called an engineer, which I understand. But when I asked about a voucher or compensation, the receptionist laughed and wasn’t helpful. She said she could have made parking free if we’d had a car, but we didn’t. Not everyone drives, and no alternative was offered. That’s poor service, especially from an international company like IHG. Hot water is an amenity, and they could still have offered something despite the emergency. I was there last month for sightseeing. I submitted a complaint on their website over a month ago and they haven’t responded, just ignored it.
