Holiday Inn Express Southampton West

It was an easy trip to Paulton Park, only about a 10-minute drive, and there were plenty of other places to visit within 10-20 minutes. We were impressed with how family friendly the hotel was. When we arrived as part of a Paulton Park package, the children got little activity packs to use during our stay. On the way home, we realized we'd left something in the room. The hotel was happy to box it up so we could arrange a courier to collect it. We'd absolutely stay again if we're in the area.

My daughter was sick around 11pm and very distressed. After comforting her, cleaning her up and changing her clothes, I went to reception for a bag to put the soiled bedding in. The staff member gave me one bin bag, but no fresh bedding was offered. Thankfully we had thick fleece blankets, though that shouldn't have been necessary. Nobody asked if she was okay or whether we needed toiletries or bottled water, so at 11:30pm I drove to Tesco with my two-year-old to buy water so she wouldn't sleep with a sick taste in her mouth. This hotel was part of the Paultons Park package and advertised as family friendly, but I found the staff unsympathetic. As a single full-time dad, I already feel many places lack facilities for dads caring for their kids alone, but this was something else. One staff member in particular was quite offhand with me, and the food was below standard for the price. I wouldn't stay here again, and if you're booking a Paultons Park day, I'd avoid this hotel. When I moved the beds, there was rubbish and old sugar sachets behind them. I know it's a cheap hotel, but that felt scruffy. Bye Southampton.

We stayed for a week and were very happy with the hotel. The staff were so lovely and friendly, always smiling, polite and happy to chat. When I lost my toothbrush, they gave me a spare and a little toothpaste. Other items such as women's sanitary products and cotton wool pads were free too. Dove shower gel in the shower was a wonderful touch for my sensitive skin. Our clean room had beautifully made beds, and they offered us duck feather pillows as an alternative. We also got free breakfast and parking. My husband thought the breakfast was okay, but I personally didn't eat it, so that's the one thing I'd change. Otherwise, I loved the stay and would choose this hotel again. Thank you.

We came for one night while visiting paulton's park and had a great stay. The room and hotel were clean and lovely, with a good amount of space. The location was handy, about 10 minutes from the park. The car park had plenty of decent spaces and was free, and the staff were really nice and polite. We'll come back.
