The building's interior and reception are beautifully decorated and have a very old feel, almost like stepping back to a time when people weren't so fussy. My room had plenty of light and double glazing, but the window still wouldn't shut properly, so I could feel the wind even while lying in bed. The central heating often failed. With it on its warmest setting, the reasonable electric heater only partly warmed the room. It was comfortable when the weather was calm, but got cold when it was windy. Quite a surreal stay.

Breakfast was magnificent and well worth the £5. There was cereal, juice, yoghurt, a full English cooked well, bread and toast with preserves, tea or coffee, plus pain au chocolat and fruit. Maria looked after me at reception and over breakfast, and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. I enjoyed my one night here, the location was great for what I wanted, and I'd definitely stay again. Many thanks, Maria.

We come here around Christmas and stay in a family room. Maria is always friendly and welcoming, ready to help, and makes a fuss of our little boy. It's great value for the price. The bunk bed mattresses could use replacing, though my little one slept fine.

I paid under £30 for the night, and for that price I was really happy. The staff were wonderful, the place was very clean and smelled fresh, and the location is handy for Southport shops and the town centre. My room had French doors onto a private patio and gardens, a very comfortable bed, a bath and shower, soft towels, and tea and coffee. There was also a fridge with snacks and drinks at an extra cost. It could do with updating, but the price needs to reflect that. Breakfast is a reasonable £5, and they also have an evening menu. Great job, I'd happily stay again.

We had a big, comfortable room with a fridge, kettle, hair dryer, bath and TV, and the breakfast was great. It's only a ten minute stroll into town, so the location worked perfectly. We were greeted by a really friendly receptionist when we arrived for our one night over the bank holiday weekend. Thanks to all the staff for looking after us, we'll be back soon.
