Le Maitre

A friend and I shared a room with two separate beds. We paid £41 each, including a full English the next morning, a small glass of orange juice and coffee at no extra charge. The beds were comfy, and the shower came with shower gel, shampoo and towels. There was a small TV, though we didn't use it. The couple working here were lovely. It's a 9 minute walk from the train station and I'd highly recommend it if you're visiting Southport.

They offered us a choice of rooms to suit our mobility issues, and the lovely people couldn't do enough for us. There was onsite parking, a lovely big bed, quality furniture and an excellent breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or stay again.

The room was lovely, clean and a good size, with nice bay windows, and the location was perfect. But the owners' attention felt like too much. I didn't feel we could come or go without a question or comment, and being watched from the lounge made it hard to relax. We stayed above the lounge, and after my son sneezed and ran to the bathroom for tissue, Gary mentioned that the chandelier had shaken and seemed irritated. It's a family room with a king bed and two singles, so I can only imagine how much it might shake if two children were playing. Maybe the chandelier should come down so people can relax. The hosts were friendly, just too present, and people on holiday shouldn't feel every move is being watched or questioned. Breakfast was average with limited choice. I had told them about my son's allergies before booking, but he couldn't eat most of it and ended up with bacon and toast. Portions were small, and I felt uncomfortable asking for more toast. The towels were stained and like sandpaper. It's a shame, because I enjoyed keeping the lovely room tidy, but those comments stopped us relaxing.

The breakfast had loads to choose from and was great quality. I had salmon and scrambled egg, and my partner had the full English, both 10/10. We had a stunning, very clean room and a really comfy bed. The location was fabulous, and the staff so polite and friendly. Definitely staying again.
