Premier Inn Stockport Central

The room was clean and spacious, and the shower was super. We had a lovely welcome from a helpful receptionist, and the location was very convenient with plenty of parking. From our room we couldn't hear the motorway or trains, though my sister could hear them in hers. The planes stopped around 11 p.m. and started again at 6 a.m.; even with the window open, they didn't disturb us. We didn't use the Hungry Horse.

I've stayed here several times over the last few years to visit family. The staff are friendly, it's close to Stockport town centre and we'll definitely return, but next time we'll ask for the main hotel. Our last two stays were in the annex, which was clean and lovely, but the radiator seemed broken and there wasn't much heat. A portable heater warmed the room while we were there, but after going out and coming back, it was freezing. Keep up the good work.

The room smelled unpleasant, perhaps because of the dirty carpet. There were dirty cups, no heating apart from an oil-filled radiator with dodgy wheels, and faeces on and around the toilet paper holder. I spent two nights there over Christmas. They offered complimentary breakfast, which was edible, but the bacon and sausage were swimming in black oil.

The hotel's well placed just outside the town centre, and the rooms are comfortable and good quality. The breakfast place next door let us down. Do yourself a favour and walk into town to eat, it's only a few minutes away.
