We only meant to stop for a drink, but stayed for lunch too. The staff were welcoming, and we sat at a window seat to read and watch what was going on. I had a tasty goats cheese salad, and my husband chose a club sandwich. Both were nicely presented. Definitely worth a visit.

I came in with my partner and our son in his pram just before 9:40 in the morning, hoping to get something to eat. I asked someone by the coffee machine whether we should wait to be seated or choose a table, but got no answer. An older woman came out from the back to the bar, so I asked her the same thing. I hadn't mentioned the window seats. She told me those tables were reserved for a group that comes every week, pointed out another table, and then continued explaining that the reserved signs were there for a reason. I said I hadn't seen them because I hadn't gone over to the tables. She replied that she'd assumed I had seen them and been over there. I left within two minutes without sitting down. I have nearly 20 years in hospitality and have managed several restaurants. A simple question shouldn't have led to a lecture or a tone that made me feel stupid for missing signs I hadn't even walked near. I wouldn't speak to a customer that way, and neither would my staff. It's not just what was said, but how it was said.

It was cold and raining, and although the place was very busy, we managed to find a table for lunch. We chose from the pensioners menu and really enjoyed the food. Friendly service too, nothing to fault. Thank you.

We got a snug booth even though it was busy. The Cajun chicken burger and fries were a 10/10, and the waitress was really friendly, as were the rest of the staff. We'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend it.

The bacon was crisp, tasty and a decent portion, but the pancake stack wasn't great. The pancakes seemed like cheap supermarket ones and weren't good quality. They'd also run out of potato scones, though that was mentioned before we were served. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but I won't be rushing back. I've had better.
