Linda made the stay especially lovely. She was warm and helpful every time we spoke, and went out of her way for us. Breakfast was delicious, and seemed freshly made by someone’s grandma in the kitchen. The room had plenty of space for us overpacking Americans, which matters on the islands. We were at the front on the top floor, so there was some road noise early and in the evening. It eased by night, and barely came through with the window shut. There are stairs, so you’ll need to carry heavy cases up, though it wasn’t too difficult. Such a charming place, and I’d happily recommend the Hebridean house.

The hosts were very welcoming, and the big front room had a comfortable settee. I’d read that traffic could be noisy, but chose it anyway. The road noise was just as described and unpleasant, especially after the quiet of south Harris, so I’d suggest asking for a room at the back. The downstairs lounge is large and has a huge TV, and the bathroom had modern fittings and fluffy towels. The tea tray was one of the best I’ve seen, with herbal and regular tea, hot chocolate, coffee, and Stornoway shortbread. The wifi supposedly had been fixed that day, but didn’t work in my room, which also left the smart TV not very smart. My flight from Stornoway was early, so I stayed nearby instead of facing the long drive from south Harris. The breakfast chef hadn’t arrived when I needed breakfast, so Linda kindly scrambled eggs and grilled sausages and Stornoway black pudding from Charles MacLeod, just around the corner. I still prefer Mr. Munro's from Tarbert. A friendly wee guest house.
