The food was a pleasant surprise. The prawn cocktail and smoked salmon bruschetta were 9/10, while the cod in herb breadcrumbs got 8/10 and the beef with honey and chilli stir fry 7/10. Both mains were tasty. Our room was cramped, the window wouldn’t open, and the radiator was hard to adjust. The bed wasn’t very comfortable either, and the pillows felt flat. We saw some of the larger rooms, which looked much roomier. Still, the staff were friendly and the place had a cosy feel.

The bar was a lovely spot to settle into in the evening, and everyone working there was so nice. We stayed in December and enjoyed the Christmas menu. Dinner had a great choice, and breakfast was hearty. Room 6 was comfortable and well appointed, with a beautiful view across the local bay. What a gem. I’d gladly recommend a stay here.

We were right by the waterfront, so sitting by the window and watching the waves was lovely. The staff were lovely too, and we enjoyed our three-night DBB stay. The food was great, with plenty of it. Our room, number 7, was in the attic. The sloping ceiling caught us on the head a few times. The bed was okay but could have used more pillows, and the TV was tiny with poor sound. There was also an odd smell, possibly damp. Despite those niggles, we enjoyed the visit and would come back.

The soup was very good, and the bar allows dogs. There’s also some nice seating outside. We stopped in for lunch and found the place warm and welcoming, with pleasant staff. We had drinks first, then ordered food. It wasn’t busy, but our two bowls of soup took 25 minutes, and only arrived after we asked about them. No one acknowledged the wait.

We had a great stay in the Garden Flat, which had excellent facilities. The food at the hotel was fantastic, with generous portions, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We’d been in the village the week before and were looking for somewhere to stay for a few days. Julian showed us a couple of rooms before we booked and gave us time to choose. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ll definitely be back!
