Open countryside, sunset views and a great garden make this a lovely rustic place to stay. The staff are very friendly, and it’s a great base for visiting the Cotswolds, so I’ll happily return. The car park can get a bit muddy in wet weather, but it’s no big deal.

A lovely old pub in a fantastic location, very welcoming, with that smell of wood smoke, old leather and dogs. The beer was good quality with something for all tastes, at about the going rate these days, around £5 a pint for the hand-pulled ales. People and staff were friendly. You can pay cash or card, and on this occasion I saw someone pay on tick, promising to settle up when family arrived later. I thought that was very trusting.

The food was excellent, and the staff were so nice. They were also very flexible about our dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options. We stayed for one night in February 2026 and couldn’t have been happier. Highly recommend!

The Old Lodge was exactly the wedding venue we wanted, with lovely surroundings, cosy indoor spaces and nice areas outside. The food was generous and really good quality, and it all felt like very good value. Jess, our wedding coordinator, deserves a special mention. She was caring, friendly, organised and quick to respond, and was just as helpful and kind on the day. The rest of the staff were cheerful, friendly and happy to help too. We can’t recommend The Old Lodge enough for a wedding.

We’ve stayed at the Old Lodge a few times over the years and have never found it wanting. We used to live nearby, and for various reasons we like to come back now and then. This time, the Sunday roast lunch was a real treat: the menu was carefully thought out, the food exceeded our expectations, and it was prepared and served very well. The service was efficient, friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great. It isn’t the cheapest meal, but it represents good value by any standard. Can’t recommend the experience highly enough.
