Premier Inn Addlestone

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. We had a very good stay, thank you. Our room was spacious, clean, and tidy. Breakfast was tasty and good quality, with a buffet that included cooked English-style food and continental options. The dining area felt spacious and relaxing even while busy. Parking is free in a nearby multistorey. I’d recommend this Premier Inn.

The room was clean and in the usual style, and it met our needs for a visit to Mercedes World one day and Brooklands Museum the next. This wasn’t one of the best Premier Inns we’ve stayed in. Breakfast was okay, with the same choices as other Premier Inns, though here the yogurt was in a large bowl instead of pots, which I prefer. Some bakery items didn’t taste fresh, including the pancakes. Customer service was the main letdown. On arrival, nobody was particularly welcoming or helped us check in, unlike at other Premier Inns where staff have been more positive and assist with the screens. Later, I rang the bell to ask for an extra mug, and it took a while for someone to appear. They still didn’t give the impression of wanting to make our stay as good as possible. At breakfast, we had to ask where to sit. Staff collected plates silently and didn’t check how things were going. The friendliness and communication just weren’t there during our one-night stay. It was hard to find the on-site drop-off parking, and being dark probably didn’t help. We didn’t use the local car park; for convenience, we booked a driveway space on Just Park so we could come and go without issues.

There were six people in the restaurant when we arrived for dinner, but we waited more than an hour for a microwaved curry. We ordered ice cream for dessert, then cancelled it after 40 minutes. I felt sorry for the chef until I found out he was the hotel’s general manager, working between the kitchen and checking in guests. It was like Fawlty Towers.

The room and location were good, but the restaurant was understaffed. I waited an hour for a pizza, only to be told the dough had gone bad. They offered me something else, but at 9pm it was too late. I stay at Premier Inns most weeks, but I’ll avoid this one.
