Premier Inn Swansea City Centre

The room itself was fine, but it wasn’t quiet. I’d emailed ahead to ask for a peaceful room because I had a long journey and would be arriving late. After getting there, I waited about ten minutes for check-in while the staff were busy in the restaurant. My room was right beside the stair door, with all that outside the window. I was really disappointed.

I usually find Premier Inns pretty similar all over the country, dependable and decent value, but this one really impressed me. The Halloween hide-and-seek in the room was a lovely touch, the hidden ghost game in the restaurant was fun, and the gifts were very generous. It’s central and convenient, so I’d recommend it. Parking at the adjoining NCP is £13. If you don’t mind walking three minutes, St John's across the road is £5 for 24 hours and £2 on Sunday.

Only a quick stop for me. I parked at St David's carpark for £5 for 24 hours, a bargain, and it was a four-minute walk to the hotel. Check-in took about two minutes, and the bloke at reception was nice. I headed straight to the bar, but they only had Coors and Carling on tap. Beggars can’t be choosers, I suppose. The room was lovely and modern, and way too big for just me. Premier Inn bathrooms always seem to have a mouldy or pee-like smell, though, and this one was no different. The walk to my room felt endless, probably not ideal if you’re unfit. I reckon I got 2k steps in. I was there for just 30 minutes before heading off to a concert. I came back, slept for five hours, then got back on the road to Cornwall. The location’s right in the city centre, with loads of fast food around, but I just grabbed a meal deal at the big Tesco superstore five minutes up the road, opposite the Swansea arena. All in, 10/10. The hotel was £38, happy days!

The staff were helpful and offered us another room, but we were already unpacked and in our nightwear after a very long day, so it was too late to move. The double bed was the smallest I’ve ever had at a Premier Inn, and the room looked really tired. When I tried to run a bath, the hot water was only lukewarm, so I couldn’t get in. Then I found there was just one very thin towel for the two of us.
